Congratulations to our staff, students and Caregivers who showed their true colours and supported our Beanies for Brain Cancer Fundraiser Day. Many in our own community have been directly affected by Brain Cancer and we are genuine in our efforts to raise awareness and support for this important research organisation. Thank you to everyone who helped raise over $2500.
Congratulations also to our amazing School Officers who we celebrated during the week for their exceptional contribution to our community. Their selfless service of our of students continues to provide them with confidence and capacity to achieve their personal excellence. We are fortunate to have such compassionate and committed people who demonstrate exemplary dedication to their role. Please continue to engage in the Exam Schedules that are accessible on the ATC App in support of the habits and preparation of your son for his upcoming assessment which will contribute to his Report Card that will be released at 3:00pm on Wednesday 22 June. Finally, Parent Teacher and Student Feedback meetings are scheduled for Monday 18 July. Correspondence will be forwarded soon from our Dean of Learning, Ms Lara Morgan.
Due to the volume of student absence and missed exams, there will be no exam catch up sessions during this Exam Block. If a student is absent for an exam, they will be granted exemption. This will allow all students to begin Term Three with a clean slate.

With winter approaching and an increase in illness, parents and caregivers are reminded of the “Senior Assessment Policy” https://ambrosetreacy.cspace.n.... Students who cannot sit an exam or meet an assessment due date due to illness, must submit a Senior Illness and Misadventure form. This is located below but can also be found on SEQTA. It must be submitted via email, with supporting verifiable evidence to the Learning Office. Approval of adjustments will be communicated to caregivers in writing via SEQTA.
Year 11 & 12 Visual Art Excursion
On Wednesday 15 June Year 11 and Year 12 Visual Art classes will be visiting IMA and GOMA on Wednesday 15 June to experience the An Alternative Economics and Creative Generation 2022 Excellence Awards in Visual Art exhibitions as part of our unit of study for Term 3. The Bus departs at 9.30am from the College and returns by 2.45pm. Students are required to bring a camera, wear Formal Uniform with suitcoat and tie and take lunch and water bottle in a small backpack. See the letter from Ms Sneddon on the ATC App for more details.
With their final year approaching, it is time for Year 11 students to mark the occasion by ordering their Senior Jersey for 2023. The College has worked closely with the manufacturer Canterbury to produce a quality product whilst maintaining a reasonable cost. Students will vote on the final design later this term. Please login to Parent Lounge to purchase. If you do not wish to proceed in purchasing a senior jersey, we kindly ask for you to decline the tour and you will receive no further follow-up correspondence. Ensure you click on the URL in Parent Lounge to select the preferred size. Please see the letter on the ATC App for more information and follow the link to select your preferred size.
The mental health of young people has been significantly impacted by the pandemic and as many families settle back into pre-COVID routines, there seems to be a pervasive sense of optimism about what lies ahead. Unfortunately, children and teens are not immune to what is now being termed the “psychological pandemic”. Young people are at risk of not achieving the primary demands of developmental tasks such as procuring independence, identity formation, as well as obtaining and maintaining peer relationships. What kids need most in the current environment is support, understanding, empathy and encouragement from caring adults. They live up or down to the expectations we set for them.
If there is a panacea to the adversity caused by the pandemic, then it is the building of resilience. Resilience is the capacity to face, overcome, be strengthened and transformed by adversity. Never before, have parents needed the skills, the knowledge and the strategies to build resilience in their children as much as they do now. There are integral and interrelated components that make up being resilient that can help young people thrive and develop healthy coping strategies. If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please seek medical or professional help.
Following our continued consultative process that involved written surveys, parent collaboration, cost analysis and data analysis since 2020 the College will conclude the service of transporting ATC Students to Holy Family Parish Outside School Hours Care (HFPOSHC) as of the end of Semester One 2022. Our hope is we have provided parents and caregivers time to transition to alternative arrangements. HFPOSHC will continue to operate independently and can be accessed directly by ATC Families, however the College will cease to offer the service of transporting students given the unsustainability of this practice. We take this opportunity to humbly thank Holy Family After School Care for their partnership in support of our families.
An essential part of the leadership journey for our 2023 College Seniors is the Leadership Retreat from Wednesday 13 July to 15 July. The retreat is a 3-day, 2-night event to be held at Camp Laurence at Moogerah Dam. The 2023 Leadership Team will cook a Brothers breakfast from 7:30am on the 13 July. Following this, students will be transported to the venue. Students are expected to return by 4:00pm on Friday 15 July. Please go to the ATC App notice to download and complete the medical form for your son by 17 June.
ATC welcomes the P.A.R.T.Y. program facilitators on Tuesday 19 July as part of our Formation program for the Year 11 students to engage in and understand what it is like to be a trauma patient through interactive simulated clinical scenarios. Our students will meet health professionals, emergency services personnel, and people who have experienced trauma and survived, often with significant disabilities. If you require any further information, contact your sons Head of House. Further details are also available via the link below for the Qld Health website. In Australia, traumatic injury is the leading cause of death in young people. This group is grossly overrepresented in injury and trauma statistics, both in terms of death and long term disability. Road trauma is still one of the most common causes of mortality and catastrophic injury in youth. CLICK HERE for more information.
The SociABLE is an important formative event for the Year 11 students. It will be held at The Greek Club, 29 Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane on the 9 August. It will begin at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start and will conclude at 10:00pm. Tickets will be $126.50 per student or $253 for a couple and must be purchased by 15 July via the parent portal. The cost covers the hire of the function room, security, photography, soft drinks and cocktail style food. See the ATC App for full details of this event.
We are still planning on having Year 11 students volunteer with ‘Rosie’s’ a group who provide friendship and unconditional acceptance to those doing it tough. This work takes place in the evenings. Until the opportunity is finalised, we would like to have a collection of small items donated for Rosie’s to distribute on the streets of Brisbane. We ask each family to make a small contribution by Monday 20 June. Suggested items include: Packets of Biscuits/Snack Items/Muesli Bars/Individually Packaged Snack Items e.g. Chips, Instant Noodle Cups, Cordial, Deodorant (roll on / non aerosol), Razors, small packs of Coffee or Tea. There will be a collection of these items each morning in Homeroom and then we will deliver these to Rosie’s. If you would like to know a bit more about Rosie’s and the service they offer, please CLICK HERE for their website.
Year 5 students will host a mini fayre on Thursday 16 June. This provides opportunities for students to be involved in raising funds either through their participation or organisation of stalls and activities. This also provides opportunities to prepare students for our famous College Christmas Fayre held at the end of the school year.
Congratulations to the ATC Senior Singers, ATC Gents, Junior Choir and ATC Symphonic Winds – all performed at the recent Queensland Youth Music Awards and were awarded Silver. A wonderful achievement amongst impressive competition from other Brisbane schools. Thanks to Mr Bolt, Mr Bannon, Mrs Tyson, Mr Willmore, Ms Chou and Mr Connors for their wonderful support and commitment when preparing the students throughout the term.
Keep an eye on the ATC App for the Semester Two Performance Calendar as we have a full calendar of great events coming up!
We wish all of our sportsman the very best of luck with their final fixtures of the term this weekend. It has been a huge term of sport with over 700 students participating in basketball, cross country, football, indoor cricket, rugby union, and touch football seasons. Thank you to parents, caregivers, and siblings for transporting and supporting our students, and we extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all staff who have guided our students on their sporting journey this term.
Holiday Programs
Parent Lounge invitations for Holiday program and Term 3 opportunities remain open, with all relevant information also on the ATC App.

Reaching new heights competing at the 2022 National Youth Climbing Championships in Sydney, Year 7 student Tully kept his sight fixed on achieving his goals. Tully has been climbing for only 11 months now and lead climbing since March. Lead climbing is tricky as it involves clipping in to hard-to-reach places the whole way up the wall. Climbers need to position themselves in a spot where they can remove one hand and clip the rope in to a designated spot. Tough stuff. In a competition pool of 26 climbers, Tully came 5th in the first and second qualifiers. With only the top eight climbers advancing through to the final round, Tully did an incredible job to finish 6th, meaning he is ranked 6th in Australia for his age group. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement Tully!
