Awards

The prestigious ADF Long Tan Award for Leadership and Teamwork recognises a student who displays strong values, embodies school culture, leads without need for recognition and consistently chooses to support others. We congratulate Year 11 student Harrison Folliott and thank him for having such an impact on our community through being a member of the House Council. The Australian Defence Force nomination recognises those who display strong values, such as doing one’s best, respect for others and “mateship” - characteristics that are integral to Australian society.

Feel Good Friday

It's our Feel Good (Funky) Friday fashion report and an important message about channelling your internal chatter. We know that our internal chatter zooms in on our problems and but being able to zoom out and shift our perspective can remove the self-sabotage.

Mr Martin getting his funky groove on!

Mr Flanagan's Brain Hacks for this week are:

Develop a distanced objective perspective such as Distance Self-Talk by saying a second person pronoun and your name to walk through the situation; Try Temporal Distancing and think about how you will feel about a problem tomorrow, next week, next year; Identify your people to help you broaden your perspective and name the people you go to for different reasons and then speak to them; Establish Diverting Rituals and find a grounding ritual that takes our mind off the thoughts like reading, exercise, podcasts, talking to friends. So why not lean in and channel our internal chatter and show self-sabotage the door… SLAM!

FAITH & MISSION

Dash for Crash Please Volunteer

The 3rd annual Dash for Crash running festival will be on Sunday 21 May and your help is needed. This event held in honor of Damien “Crash” McMeniman, who died in 2020 of Mesothelioma from asbestos exposure in his youth. Damien was 48 at the time and valued access to quality inclusive education. His sons, currently in Year 12 at Ambrose Treacy College, proudly support this event in their father's memory with their sisters, mother and the Ambrose Treacy College community. The beneficiary of the event is the Ambrose Treacy College Foundation which aims to uphold the premise of inclusive education for those of limited financial means. All proceeds will be attributed to the Bursary Fund and enable a young man access to an education at Ambrose Treacy College. We ask you to demonstrate your community spirit and sign up for tasks from setting and monitoring the course on the day to sourcing donations for the BBQ and raffle. Please click this link to volunteer to choose how you can help. If you are able to offer your assistance by way of donating or sourcing goods, services or sponsorship, please contact the event organiser Marie McMeniman by email dashforcrash@gmail.com or Helen Hicks Administration Officer of the Ambrose Treacy College Foundation. Last year there were over 250 participants and registrations will open next week, so get your running shoes ready! Have a question? Please contact Marie or Helen for any queries.

Mini Lenten Fayre

At first break Thursday, Year 6 students will run activities to raise money for our Service program to support local charities.
