As the term draws to a close, I take the opportunity to reflect on what has been an action packed 10 weeks. Here’s some highlights I really enjoyed.
I know you could nominate many more highlights of your own. They signal the diversity of opportunity for ATC students, and their amazing attitudes and talents. Well done to everyone for a wonderful term and thank you to the staff who cultivate these opportunities.
Next week is not the time to cut corners. With examinations, assessments and feedback ahead I urge students to maintain their academic discipline right up to Friday 13 September when we finish with our end of term liturgy. This can be difficult, but patience will bring rewards. Encourage your son to identify when he is quick to cut corners. Ask him to consider what he is striving for academically and help him to respond with the goal in mind.
Junior School looks forward to their Athletics Gala Day next Friday after it was postponed earlier in the term. It will be a lovely way to finish the term as a community. Year 4 are also looking forward to their Fayre on Thursday. Details of both events are located in the year level notices on the app.

JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Junior School
Year 4 Charity Fayre: Boys in Years 5 & 6 are encouraged to bring gold and silver coins to support this event, which will be held during the second break on Thursday, September 12. Our Year 4s have organised some wonderful games and activities with all money raised going to support ATC Service Initiatives in our Community.
Junior School Gala Day: The rescheduled Gala Day will take place on the final day of term. Boys wear their House shirt and bring hats, water bottles, and colourful items such as wigs to add vibrancy to our rotational activities.
Funky Socks
Each year the P&F coordinate a ‘Moral Support Gift’ for the graduating Year 12s where they are given a small gift from the Year 4 Cohort. It is a very positive experience for both groups – the Year 4s love giving a gift and the Year 12s love receiving them!
It would be greatly appreciated if Year 4 families could donate 1 or 2 pairs of “funky, colourful fun socks”. They can be dropped to Mr Degenkamp’s classroom by Friday 11 October. On Monday 14 October, Year 4 and Year 12 have lunch together and the socks and inspirational messages offering best wishes for exams are exchanged. They all enjoy lunch and a final game of handball together!
Thank you for your generosity.

Eureka
Year 5 students were immersed in the historical events of the Eureka Stockade last term, exploring its significance in shaping change and the differing experiences and viewpoints of prospectors and authorities. Classrooms and play areas transformed into lively goldfields, where students took on the roles of diggers, experiencing both triumph and hardship. The diggers united in rebellion against the corrupt authorities (teachers) to demand better conditions, and undoubtedly creating a memorable highlight of their journey through history. Eureka for the holidays!
FORMATION
Year 4 Formation
On Friday 4 October as part of our Formation program, Year 4 will explore the topic All About Me - Healthy and Safe. To assist in the delivery of this topic, the College is has acquired the services of Let's Chat Education which will deliver a 70 minute session to each class. It is important that children are given accurate, reliable and appropriate information and skills in a supportive environment, and the home is one of the best places for this education to occur. More information will be shared on the ATC App in the coming weeks.
RU OK? Day
R U OK? Day is an opportunity to be more intentional about checking in with self and others around mental health and wellbeing. R U OK? Day should be everyday as we continually tackle life’s obstacles but acknowledge that we have highs and lows each day which is natural.
In the lead up to RU OK Day next Thursday, we invited Past Students, David M, Aarav C and Harvey C back to the College Assembly to share their wisdom about wellbeing.
These past students were the pioneers of the Carpool Karaoke initiative in 2022 and were tasked in sharing important messages about mental health in an engaging way with our students in a Q&A with our 2025 College Captain Ted C.
