I hope all families have had a positive first two weeks of the term. It has been another massive week at ATC with the spotlight strongly on The Arts and the celebration of the imagination, creativity, skill and our talented students. Our Arts programs provide so many opportunities for our students to express their creativity in and out of the classroom. The ATC Arts program also is a key component of our goal of providing an education to develop well rounded young people, and the programs input so much soul into our ATC community. I thank all our classroom teachers across The Arts subjects (Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts) and all our Co-curricular staff for their continual energy, expertise and effort in providing such positive opportunities.
The week began with the Choral Concert, followed by a very entertaining College Assembly on Tuesday. Live band performance, Drama discussions, portrait paintings, Media Arts videos and impromptu music stings had the crowd engaged and enlightened.
Wednesday evening saw the opening of the ARTery exhibition, with entertained provided by the Guitar ensemble. The array of types of Visual Art and the talent on display is quite extraordinary. If you have not had the chance to see the Art work it remains open on Saturday from 4-6pm during Jazz By The River. Come and see the creativity of your son and his peers. Congratulations to all students and especially our winners who received awards, trophies and prize packs.
Highly Commended

Today ATC was painted pink. Staff and students brought out their absolute best apparel to support Breast Cancer awareness. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign observed in October to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, support those affected by the disease, and raise funds for research, prevention, and treatment. The theme for 2023 is 'Keeping Her in the Picture,' a plea to everyone to keep an eye on the well-being of the significant women in their lives. A poignant example here amongst our ATC community was provided at College Assembly when Ms Sam Wild – McElroy (a School Officer at ATC) was supported by her son, Cooper (a Year 12 student) in sharing her personal story about breast cancer. The intent of this personal talk and ‘pink day’ is for our young people to talk about the awareness of breast cancer, and show solidarity and support

INCLUSIVE PRACTICES
OCTOBER - DYSLEXIA AND ADHD AWARENESS MONTH
The month of October shines a light on both Dyslexia and ADHD. Approximately, 10-20% of the population is affected by dyslexia, and another 10% by ADHD. Here at ATC, we currently have 83 students diagnosed with dyslexia and 129 students with ADHD. It’s important that we not only recognise and support these students, but also take the opportunity to celebrate the unique perspective and strengths that neurodiversity brings to our community.
While both dyslexia and ADHD may present certain barriers to learning, the neurodiverse mind also can be a source of remarkable creativity, resilience, and innovation. Staff have been provided with helpful classroom resources, how students with Dyslexia and/or ADHD learn best, and what their strengths are. At ATC, we will always support and advocate for our students by promoting awareness, acceptance and inclusiveness for ALL people. By participating in Dyslexia and ADHD Awareness months and lighting up our Edmund Rice building red and then orange, we not only raise awareness but also create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and has a sense of belonging.
