Arts Week was a resounding success! The week was launched with an excellent assembly featuring drama performances, rock band performances and a media art presentation. On Tuesday night, our well-travelled and highly accomplished singers shone in a choral concert.
Throughout the week, students participated in workshops on various mediums such as sculpture and printmaking. The opening of our art exhibition, ‘ARTery,’ was a highlight, showcasing student work from each cohort and awarding art prizes. I highly recommend stopping by to view the exhibition, which is open until Saturday evening. A big thank you to all the art, media art, design, drama, and music teams for their dedication and time in putting together this fantastic showcase of student talent.
Finishing classes as a graduating Year 12 student at Ambrose Treacy College is a truly momentous occasion. It marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. This milestone is not just about completing academic requirements; it’s a celebration of the friendships forged, the challenges overcome, and the knowledge gained.
Between the last class on Wednesday and the valedictory ceremony (14 November), there are external exams to complete (QCAA Exam timetable). I wish all students every success as they prepare. I’m also mindful some students will be continuing apprenticeships, traineeships or commencing employment. I trust they find the transition liberating and rewarding.
There are several activities planned next week to help Year 12 finish well and allow other cohorts to celebrate the occasion with them with a sense of fun.
Monday: Novelty bag day. Messages of support and best wishes, plus a gift from Year 4 students.
Tuesday: Dress-up day. Come as your favourite fictional character. Staff v Student activities
Wednesday: House colours. Gate to Gate running race. Pizza lunch. House Assemblies.
We wish our Year 7-8 Q Volleyball School Cup team, CBSQ Secondary Basketball team, and AIC Touch Football team success in their respective competitions this weekend. Your dedication and teamwork have brought you to this point, and we know you’ll represent Ambrose Treacy College with excellence. Play hard, support each other, and make the most of this opportunity. Good luck to all our teams!
ATC Goes Pink for Breast Cancer
Pink took over ATC today for Breast Cancer Awareness day. Students were encouraged to wear pink, bring a Gold Coin donation to homeroom and ‘Become A Zero Hero’ – Stop Deaths from Breast Cancer. There were pink hats, wigs, socks and anything else remotely pink. This is annual event giving our students the opportunity show their support for the important work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It is always wonderful to see our students recognising those impacted by Breast Cancer and continuing to raise social awareness of a disease that impacts so many in our community.

FORMATION
Year 4 Dance at Celebration of Excellence
A significant annual College event, ‘Celebration of Excellence’, is being held on Tuesday 12 November at Riverlife from 5.30pm. This event not only recognises outstanding excellence in learning, leadership, service and co-curricular activities, but also provides a platform to showcase our students’ talents. In 2024, the Year 4 cohort have been invited to perform a choreographed dance routine which will be taught in alignment with the Australian Curriculum by instructors from ZING Activ and overseen by Mr Grant Carlson, Junior School HPE teacher. Each Wednesday for six weeks in Term 4, boys will learn their moves as part of the Physical Education Curriculum.
It will be an exciting night for all Year 4 boys as they perform on stage in front of a large audience, and it is expected that all Year 4 students attend for the entire evening. As the event draws closer, more details will be released on the ATC App regarding costumes, times and meeting places. I ask all Year 4 families to save Tuesday 12 November to their calendars. It promises to be a spectacular evening!

Choral Concert
The first evening event of Arts week got underway on Tuesday with the Choral Concert and featured our most outstanding singers at ATC. The concert commenced with our fantastic Junior Choir who had the audience captivated immediately with their entertaining performances. Senior Singers followed performing Migaloo and the classic jazz standard Fly me to the Moon. The audience was then treated to outstanding solo performances from Dash Solomon and Johnathan Heydon. The ATC Gents then took to the stage and performed an Original Composition written by Dash Solomen with Lyrics by Mr Joshua Clifford and the very entertaining 80s pop song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. To close, all of our singers came together to perform “Freedom is Coming” which was a very fitting ending to a wonderful evening of music making. Congratulations to our wonderful Choral community.
