CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE
We invite all students, parents and carers to attend the ATC 2024 Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday 12 November 2024. This evening is a celebration of the ATC Community and its achievements throughout the year, and we would hope that all students and families attend this significant evening to celebrate 2024 at Ambrose Treacy College. Students (and parents/carers of students) who are receiving an award will be notified shortly.
Doors will open at 5.30pm, with guests to be seated by 5.45pm.
And That’s a Wrap: Arts Week 2024
Before we look to the week ahead, I take this opportunity to reflect on what has been my most enjoyable week at ATC since I commenced at the beginning of the year. The choral concert, Artery opening, Jazz by the River and Actors Studio performance provided multiple opportunities to celebrate with the students and their families. I was amazed by the breadth and depth of artistic talent showcased.
(Cast from Actors Studio Performance - Slammed)
Thank you to everybody who was involved and the committed team of teachers and school officers that supported every aspect of the week.
Even the sad washout of the second half of Jazz by the River led to a quickly organized encore performance by the Senior Jazz Orchestra at assembly on Tuesday which raised the roof and sent off our Year 12 with a bang.
Their final days of classes and the fun, house spirited rituals around their departure were equally enjoyable. I wish them every success in their upcoming examination and look forward to their Valedictory.
And the winner of the People’s Choice for ARTery 2024 goes to Nate Donaldson in Year 12! Nate created this impressive and large-scale sculpture as his last school-submitted artwork ever. Nate met the brief to produce a sculpture that was a statement piece and represented his interest in cars, to resemble a burnout. This piece was created with a re-purposed tyre, structured with a pile of plastic ball bit balls, expanding foam, pillow-stuffing and finished with special order programmable, colour changing LED lights. Congratulations to Nate on this crowd favourite.
Last night we welcomed the families of students who will be commencing in 2025 to an orientation and information evening. We enjoyed a lovely sunset with canapes and drinks by the river which created a warm welcome, established connections and created a sense of community. We wish families and their sons well as they start their ATC journey.

Actors Studio Performance - Slammed
On Tuesday and Wednesday
night, our talented students in the Actor’s Studio performed this year’s
production of “Slammed” by Stephanie Brooke Harper. “Slammed” offers a poignant
exploration of the hardships and struggles that people—be they parents, peers,
or teachers—face daily and in our fast-paced world, it’s all too easy to
overlook the silent battles that those around us may be fighting. Our young
actors gave an inspiring and captivating performance that entertained hundreds
of audience members over two nights. Well done to the cast and crew!

Congratulations also to the organising committee and Mr Jonothan Bolt and all staff who led our students in support of this special evening on our College calendar. Here are some highlights for you to enjoy.
Congratulations
James Muller is a highly talented and dedicated member of the ATC Music community playing the Clarinet and the Saxophone. He commenced his musical journey at ATC in the Junior Band as a Clarinettist when he was in Year 4 in 2018. Along with outstanding performances at the Australian International Music Festival in Sydney, Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival (awarded an individual Excellence Award), the Formal Music Evening and featuring as a member of the ATC Jazz Orchestra with numerous lead Alto Saxophone Solos at the recent Jazz by the River, James has been busy preparing material for his Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA) examination. We are delighted to announce that James has successfully completed that exam and now officially holds that qualification on Saxophone. Congratulations James on this outstanding achievement, earned through considerable dedicated practise, and is remarkable for a student in Year 10. Capping off James’ recent musical achievements, the following day he also competed in the Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society competition performing on the Saxophone in the Under 17 Years category and coming First place. Such a big year in music making for James! Congratulations from us all!
