CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE
We invite all students, parents and carers to attend the ATC 2024 Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday 12 November 2024. This evening is a celebration of the ATC Community and its achievements throughout the year, and we would hope that all students and families attend this significant evening to celebrate 2024 at Ambrose Treacy College. Students (and parents/carers of students) who are receiving an award will be notified shortly.
Doors will open at 5.30pm, with guests to be seated by 5.45pm.
COLLEGE TOUR
If you know a family who are thinking of ATC for their son, please let them know about our Afternoon Tour when they can explore our teaching spaces, music rooms, science labs and digital & design tech areas. They will hear from our students and staff about what we do at ATC. Share the link to register for Wednesday 30 October: https://www.atc.qld.edu.au/enrolments/book-a-tour Thank you to our community who are our biggest advocates.
Today we celebrated World Teachers' Day (WTD). It is a chance to reflect on the difference teachers make to the lives of your son. Teaching is about learning, and so much more. At assembly Mr Ryan succinctly expressed great teaching as the difference between occupation and vocation.
The best teachers, the ones we all remember from our own school days, do much more than teach. They care, they’re passionate, the give their time freely, they forgive, they find joy, and they know who your son is, not just what he knows. As the Deputy Principal I’m blessed to work with a dedicated team. I take great joy in supporting their endeavour so they can provide a liberating education for your son.
As part of our WTD celebrations we recognise long service milestones at assembly. We recognised teachers who have achieved 10 years of service at ATC, meaning they were here from the foundation day. Also, we recognised teachers achieving even longer service milestones that bridge time at both Nudgee Junior and ATC. Lastly, we also recognised service milestone to Catholic Education more broadly.
We thank all teachers for their service at ATC, in EREA schools, Catholic schools and in all other education jurisdictions.

Also find the timetable, directions for students and the equipment list which must be perused by students and parents prior to an exam starting.
Year 9 RE Incursion – Courage To Care - 30 and 31 October
During Term 4, across the 30 and 31 October all Year 9 students will take part in an incursion with Courage to Care as part of their broader studies in Religious Education. Courage to Care is an organisation who endeavour to create awareness of the dangers of prejudice and discrimination through education and demonstration that the actions of individuals can have a big impact. Further details have been shared on the College App.
We have our biggest Year 12 cohort of Economists to date graduating this year and they have embraced the opportunity to look outward and make a difference by supporting an incredibly worthy cause as their 'parting gift'. Throughout their journey as Economists in the last three years they have explored real-world challenges including unemployment and the cost-of-living crisis that so many are currently being impacted by. We are delighted that our boys were able to make this generous contribution to Rosie's charity today to assist those who have found themselves facing hard times. Service learning indeed!
Year 6 Mathematics
Measuring and naming angles formed by tape on their desks was a hands-on way for Year 6 to apply their knowledge of angles, and it reinforced measuring skills and geometric understanding.

Year 12 Laptop Purchase
As part of the College 1:1 Laptop Program, each student was given a College laptop at the beginning of Year 10 for the Senior School three‐year cycle. Following the conclusion of each Year 12s final exam, students will need to hand in their laptop and charger to the IT Department. It is important that Year 12 students back up any files on their laptop that they wish to keep to a USB or external hard drive. Laptops must be returned by COB Thursday 14 November 2024. After auditing the current laptops and the needs for 2025, a decision has been made to offer the 2024 Seniors the opportunity to purchase their College laptops. After consultation with our IT partners, ATC has been offered $125 for each of the devices. If a family wishes to purchase the College laptop, they will need to pay $125 via Parent Lounge, under Events and Payments. Purchase of the laptop must be completed by COB Thursday 14 November 2024 and will be returned in the same physical condition as they were handed in. The laptop can also be repaired but will incur an additional charge per the Acceptable Technology Use Policy (Students). Laptops will be available for collection from the IT Office from Monday 9 December 2024 after the laptop has been wiped and come with the default Windows 10 setup as if you purchased it from a retail store. For any enquiries, please email the IT Service Desk.
