Coming Up Week 8

2025 P&F Planning Meeting

Mr George Patrikios P&F President, welcomes all parents and caregivers to the 2025 Planning Meeting on Tuesday 19 November in Mt Sion Library (Junior school precinct) at 6.30pm. We will begin planning the key community events that the P&F coordinate and speak about volunteer participation at other events and sport canteen. Please come along to hear about what the P&F does at the College and possibly lend a hand at one of these events. All Year Level Parent Liaisons are requested to join us at this meeting. We are also looking for a Year 4 parent to take on the role of Parent Liaison in 2025. Please email the Secretary, Catherine Jackson if you are interested in this role. pandf@atc.qld.edu.au New parents are most welcome to attend – there’s never any pressure to put your hand up to take on an event and there are always lots of little jobs to assist with during the year. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our annual Celebration of Excellence evening at River life on Tuesday was a resounding success. My reflection on the event - after 20 years of awards nights across six EREA schools - is that ATC’s version is the most student centred I’ve ever seen, and I loved it!

Our Touring Concert Band opened the event in style, powerful Taiko drummers shook the space, and our Senior Choir delivered a whole lot of feel good. The stars of the show were the Year 4 dancers. Dynamically choreographed with a healthy dose of 70s and 80s disco they were an absolute delight.

Student voice was also a feature. Outgoing College Captain Declan spoke well, and all our student presenters made the event for the students as delivered by the students. Year 6 presenter Joe will be one to watch on the debating circuit in year to come! The approach captures the essence of the liberating educational opportunities ATC provides.

I extend my congratulations to all award winners and sincerely thank all the staff who worked behind the scenes to make the event a s success.

Staff Christmas Lunch - Donations

We have an incredibly talented and dedicated staff at ATC – this includes teachers, administration staff, ground staff, classroom school officers, music teachers and sport coaches. With the end of the year and the spirit of Christmas approaching, we are aware that some families are considering the idea of a gift for staff at ATC. The College and the P&F would like to emphasis the way for saying ‘thank you’ to ATC staff at the end of the school year is by donating to the annual Staff Christmas Lunch which is coordinated by the ATC P&F. It is a very special day for all staff and one which is looked forward to with great anticipation every year.

Families can go to Parent Lounge to make a donation to assist with catering costs. This will be a great way to celebrate the end of a monumental year and with your help, we look forward to making it a very special day for ATC staff. We remind parents that contributions are entirely voluntary. Please CLICK HERE to donate. See the College App for further details.

FAITH AND MISSION

Christmas Appeal | St Vincent de Paul Homeroom Hampers

This year ATC will support the St Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Appeal. Homerooms have been tasked with filling a hamper with Christmas goodies and groceries. A list of items required has been supplied to homeroom teachers and students will be given an item to add to their homeroom hamper. Please ask your son to bring this item into their homeroom no later than 22 November so that delivery can be made to those in need prior to Christmas by St Vincent de Paul Society. Please contact Andrew McCrohon, Head of Service and Clubs, should you have any queries.

Well done to Year 6 student Alexander who has generously donated every item on the hamper list to bring a little Christmas magic to someone in need. Thank you for being a sign of faith and thank you to the #ATCommunity, for supporting the Vinnies Australia Christmas Appeal.

If you are at the supermarket this weekend, please pop a couple of extra items into the trolley for our appeal. All hamper donations can be delivered to Homeroom teachers.
