As we head into the final weeks of our schooling journey at ATC, it’s time to reflect on the achievements and successes we’ve had as the 2023 Senior cohort. This year has been filled with memorable moments, unwavering support for important initiatives, and the embodiment of a positive and inclusive school community.
One of the highlights of 2023 has been the consistent support shown by our Senior students for various important events when our mates needed it. From rallying behind "Spectate the Debate" to spreading awareness on "RU Ok Day" and creating a positive atmosphere on "Feel good Fridays," our Year 12 students have consistently showcased their commitment to empowering others.
This year, Year 12 students have paved the way for others to follow. They've worn their school uniform with pride, setting an example for all students at ATC to represent our school with dignity. The sense of pride in our school we have shared has, I hope, fostered a sense of belonging and unity within our community.
Co-curricular activities, in particular, sport and music have played a significant role this year. Year 12 students have shared their gifts and talents through sporting events and the multiple concerts we’ve held across the year including the combined St Aidan’s and ATC concert. The enthusiasm and energy supporters have brought to these events has created a strong sense of community, with a part for everyone to play.
One of the standout events of the year was the Inaugural ATC/Brigidine Spirit Cup. This event brought together students from Ambrose Treacy College and Brigidine College, fostering community connections and healthy competition. It was great to see both schools mix and have a friendly game of Volleyball.
Year 12 students have shown themselves to be Signs of Faith through their engagement with our service program. Their dedication to serving the community and making a positive impact on the lives of others is truly commendable. One of the ways this has happened has been through the reinvigoration of House Friendship groups, with students actively participating in service initiatives with organisations such as Rosie's for Munster, Second Chance for Leinster, Romero Centre for Connacht, and RSL for Ulster. These opportunities have not only strengthened the bonds within our college but have also allowed our students to give back to the broader community.
As we come to the period of external assessments, it's important for Year 12 students to focus on our learning. These assessments are a culmination of hard work and dedication throughout our school life, and we hope that this will pay off in the coming months.
The official handover of leadership responsibilities will take place at the Commissioning Ceremony in Week 1 of Term 4. We would like to congratulate the 2024 College leadership team – Declan, Jock, and Michael. We wish them all the best as they embark on their journey to "Be The Change" and "Show Up-Represent-No Excuses." May they lead with the same positive energy that our Year 12 students have displayed throughout 2023.
The year is certainly not over, and we also look forward to many more community events next term such as Jazz By The River. Over the coming months we look forward to enjoying time with our peers for the last school term together. We would also like to use this time to thank our teachers for their unwavering support in assisting us to achieve our best results and enjoying our time at school.
All in all, 2023 has been a year filled with triumphs and memorable moments for the seniors of ATC. We hope that our support for various initiatives, dedication to our studies, positive attitudes has made a difference in the community. We look forward to our making the most of our final Term at ATC and wish our peers and staff all the best leading into 2024.
