Seniors of 2025 Taking on the Mantle of Leadership

Year 12

Our Year 12 students finished their classes last Wednesday with great positivity. We are delighted with and proud of how they transitioned through this exciting time and into preparation for their external exams. We wish all of Year 12 every success and look forward to supporting them as best as we can in the coming weeks.

Seniors of 2025

With the conclusion of classes for Year 12, comes the rituals of the Seniors of 2025 taking on the mantle of leadership of the College. Last week saw the launching of the 2025 Senior Motto by College Captain, Ted Challenor and his team. Their call to unity, community and friendship is a clear message for our community as we celebrate our first decade in 2025.

World Teachers’ Day

World Teachers’ Day in Queensland will be celebrated officially on Friday 25 October.  We will acknowledge and celebrate the dedication, care and professionalism of our staff at a morning tea.  World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to thank our teachers for the contribution they make to the future of our students.  We are blessed to have such a generous, dedicated and compassionate teaching staff at ATC. A feature of the celebration will take place on College Assembly where we will acknowledge service milestones of staff both within a wider Catholic education setting and at Ambrose Treacy College in particular, I congratulate the following staff:

Partnerships with All Girls Schools

A strategic intent has been to develop and deepened our partnerships local girls schools, Brigidine College, the Stuartholme School and St Aidan’s. We are very grateful to the Principals and Leadership Teams of our partner schools for their shared vision. It has been wonderful in recent weeks to host the Year 6 cohort from St Aidan’s at ATC for a fun afternoon of activities, to have our entire Year 9 cohort visit Brigidine to participate in a Retreat program and most recently, for our entire Year 10 group to share in a range of formation and justice activities as guests of Stuartholme. We look forward to continuing to expand these activities and opportunities and I thank our ATC staff for their leadership, co-ordination and support of our boys.

Staff News

As I shared last week, Mr Matt Warr, Dean of Faith and Mission, has been appointed Dean of Mission and Identity at St Joseph’s Nudgee College commencing in 2025. We wish Matt all the very best and thank him for his wonderful contribution to our story over the past nine years.

This Senior Leadership role is challenging one in the contemporary setting for a diverse range of reasons. We have been fortunate to have people like Mr Warr and Mr Finn in these formation and faith roles through the early phase of the life of the College. We are presently recruiting for this key position.

Slammed
Last week the College production of Slammed was staged and a hearty congratulations to all of our performers and support crew on a fabulous job. The acting work of all of the students involved was impressive and required enormous dedication and discipline.

A lot of effort goes into productions such as this so well done and thank you to everyone for your support of this initiative. Thank you to everyone who helped in various ways and a special congratulations to Ms Elsie Bredhauer and Ms Nicole Fowler for their leadership of this project.

We look forward to what next year will bring.

St Vincent de Formal

The annual Year 10 St Vincent de Formal will be held in partnership with Brigidine College this Thursday.

This enjoyable event is a part of a suite of opportunities we are gradually expanding for our students to mix and socialise with young women.

This innovative and fun occasion sees our schools combine in contributing to the wonderful Catholic organisation, St Vincent de Paul which supports people in need, wear some creative “formal” outfits, meet each other, play some games, and enjoy themselves.

Thank you to our Faith and Mission Team and staff who support this great event.

COLLEGE TOUR

If you know a family who are thinking of ATC for their son, please let them know about our Afternoon Tour when they can explore our teaching spaces, music rooms, science labs and digital & design tech areas. They will hear from our students and staff about what we do at ATC. Share the link to register for Wednesday 30 October: https://www.atc.qld.edu.au/enrolments/book-a-tour Thank you to our community who are our biggest advocates.

CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE

We invite all students, parents and carers to attend the ATC 2024 Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday 12 November 2024. This evening is a celebration of the ATC Community and its achievements throughout the year, and we would hope that all students and families attend this significant evening to celebrate 2024 at Ambrose Treacy College. Students (and parents/carers of students) who are receiving an award will be notified shortly.

Doors will open at 5.30pm, with guests to be seated by 5.45pm.

Community Prayers

Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us.
