Pope Francis
Ambrose Treacy College joins the global Catholic community in thanksgiving for the life, example and leadership of Pope Francis.
During a time of rapid and significant change and challenge, Pope Francis has been an extraordinary example of simplicity, humility and love.
We pray for him and for our Church as preparations are made to choose a new Pope. May their leadership be inspired by his faith, dedication and service.
May Pope Francis Rest in Peace and Perpetual Light Shine Upon him.
Easter Blessings and a warm welcome to Term 2
We join the global Catholic community sharing in the joy filled good news of He is Risen this Easter Sunday past that is so needed for the times in which we live. May our loving God, present to us and with us in the person of Jesus, be with your families, you in your own journey and with those most in need always.
I hope that the Easter break was a life giving, enjoyable and relaxing time for all.

Easter Break News
Term One concluded with the Autumn Co-Curricular Music Concert. Congratulations to all students, Mr Jonathon Bolt and staff involved in what was a fabulous display of our excellent program. The journey from the beginners to our top performers is always a delight to see.
Over the holidays, many staff and students have been involved in the EREA Football Tournament hosted at Nudgee. Our players acquitted themselves very well with some exciting wins-the Year 5 team were down 3-2 against Nudgee in the last five minutes and won 4-3 and our Year 7 team made it through to the semi-finals in a high standard competition. Our First XI fought hard against talented opposition and grew markedly throughout the tournament. It was great to see Mr Liam Barrie (ATC 2020) coaching the team well as our past student community becomes more and more influential across the College.
Just prior to Easter, our Rugby program enjoyed some trials against our fellow EREA school, St Patrick’s Shorncliffe.
Thank you to Mr Lyndon Brieffies, Head of Sport and his team and all involved staff.
ANZAC Day
With Easter being so late this year, it is important that we keep sight of the importance and significance of ANZAC Day to be commemorated this Friday and honoured at our Years 4 to 7 and Years 8 to 12 ceremonies on Thursday.
We remember and honour all women and men who have served our country in theatres of war and peace keeping exercises. We especially remember and honour all who have fallen in protecting our freedom and way of life. In a special way, we remember and honour all family members of the Ambrose Treacy College community who have served and who have made sacrifices so that we may share in the lives we lead.
This ANZAC Day takes place in a time of global uncertainty and tension. May we all be spared the tragedy of military conflict. We pray for all throughout the world presently impacted by conflict in hope of peace for all.
Dash for Crash
The Dash for Crash will take place at 7am on Sunday, 25 May in memory of Damien McMeniman, who tragically lost his life to Mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure.
Damien was a passionate runner and triathlete who attended Edmund Rice schools in Brisbane during the 1970s and 1980s. He deeply valued the camaraderie of his fellow athletes and believed in the importance of quality, inclusive education at Ambrose Treacy College.
This event is proudly supported by Damien’s wife and children, honouring his legacy and commitment to community and education.

Community Prayers
Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us.
God Bless.
Chris Ryan, College Principal
