The countdown is on Year 12

COLLEGE TOUR

If you know a family who are thinking of ATC for their son, please let them know about our Afternoon Tour when they can explore our teaching spaces, music rooms, science labs and digital & design tech areas. They will hear from our students and staff about what we do at ATC. Share the link to register for Wednesday 30 October: https://www.atc.qld.edu.au/enrolments/book-a-tour Thank you to our community who are our biggest advocates.

Mrs Dawn McCawley

We recently learned that Mrs Dawn Mc Cawley passed away on the 18th of September aged 90. Mrs McCawley served at Nudgee Junior College in numerous office roles from 1968 to 2006 which is a remarkable period. She was renowned for her grace, collegiality, competence and great humour.

We give thanks for the contribution of Mrs McCawley to the Nudgee Junior College story without which the Ambrose Treacy College story would not be possible.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

First Lego League Competition

Three teams, two from the Junior School and one Year 7 team represented the College over the weekend at the regional First Lego League competition. Congratulations to all participants on the fine way in which they competed and represented our community.

One of the Junior School teams, The ATC Abyssal Architects, came away as the overall winners of the day,  being awarded the Champions Award. This award celebrates a team that embodies the FLL Challenge experience by fully embracing the Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in Robot Performance, Robot Design, and the Innovation Project. They have also been invited to compete in the FLL National Championships in Gladstone on 23 November. The other Junior School team, The ATC Water Ole’s took out Best Robotic Performance on the day. Well done to all!

Arts Week

Congratulations to Ms Caitlin Ferreira and her team on another terrific Arts Week. It was simply great to see so many parents and family members able to enjoy our Visual Art, Drama, Media Art, and Music with our students last week. Congratulations to everyone involved, especially our talented students, supportive parents, and dedicated staff. Special thanks and congratulations go to our Year 12 students. Their gifts will be missed in our Arts programs, and we thank them for their legacy.

Jazz by the River

It was so very sad to have our Jazz by the River impacted by rain on Saturday evening. In particular, we are disappointed for our Year 12 students, some of whom have been ATC musicians since Year 4. We are considering ways to ensure we celebrate them and other musicians and we look forward to the performance of the ATC Jazz Orchestra at our College Assembly tomorrow.

Nonetheless, congratulations to everyone involved in the planning, organisation, and facilitation of the 2024 Jazz by the River. Congratulations to the organising committee and Mr Jonothan Bolt and all staff who led our students and came to support.

Thank you and congratulations to the Bakehouse Team, Hospitality students and staff for a wonderful job and to the Property Team who worked tirelessly all week and were literally everywhere!

We are so very proud of all students and staff involved in this special event along with all of the events of Arts Week. Thank you to everyone for your support.

Year 12 Students

Our Year 12 students conclude classes this Wednesday. Over the next 3 days there is a balance of fun, ritual and final subject reviews before they commence their study and external exams period. We wish them all the very best as we work together to help them to finish strongly and proudly.

Thank you to all Year 4 families who have donated gifts for our Year 12 students as they finish classes this week. These are greatly appreciated by the Year 12 fellows as they are encouraged and supported by the younger students and our extended community. Thank you to the ATC P&F for this initiative and for all parental support.

Basketball

Congratulations to our basketballers who had a strong showing in Division 2 of the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) over the weekend just narrowly missing out on a top four spot in this very strong statewide competition which fields five divisions. ATC Basketball is on the move.

Community Prayers

Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us
