Final Weeks of Term

We wish our Year 12 students all the best for their Mock Exams which commence this Wednesday. Year 12 students engage in a block exam experience for the eight days of this time, returning on Monday in Week 10 for a week of feedback sessions with their teachers. The mock program is a vital aspect of preparing for the external exams process in Term 4. Important skills, simulations and practice are gained during this time. Our aim is that the group are prepared well for their external exams through a positive engagement in these days.

Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day for this weekend to all dads and significant carers. What a delightful privilege it is to be a father. I am blessed to still have my 89-year-old Dad with me, and I start every weekend with a Saturday morning 8am phone call with him where we debrief the week, discuss the news of the day and plan for what may lie ahead.

The greatest present any Father can give is their presence through being there, listening, supporting, guiding and caring. Happy Father’s Day to all in the ATC community.

We look forward to our Year 7 Advocacy and Father and Son workshop this Wednesday evening.

Brisbane Catholic Education Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Year 12 Graduation

This Thursday, I have the pleasure of attending this significant gathering at St Stephen’s Cathedral in the city where our First Nations students from through the Archdiocese of Brisbane are celebrated and acknowledged for the achievement in completing Year 12. It is a very special ceremony each year.

Our 7 Year 12 students; Trent, Lennox, Dan, Michael S, Michael R and Oliver along with Eli who recently finished his time with us are to be warmly congratulated on their achievements and the many gifts they have shared with the College across all domains of school life.

Formal Music Concert

The Formal Music Concert this Thursday 29 August at Riverlife is a great occasion and celebration of all of the growth and development in music across the year and acknowledgement of our Year 12 musicians, many of whom have been a part of the program since Year 4. This event is a great display of the variety and diversity of our program and a terrific lead in for Jazz by the River, our annual community event, which is being held on Saturday, the 12th of October. Best wishes to all of our musicians and staff for a wonderful evening on Thursday.

Final Weeks of Term 3

There are not many harder weeks in the year than the last weeks of Term 3 for students, parents and staff alike. It is a busy time at the end of a busy term with assessment on, tiredness and warmer weather beginning to kick in. Experience reminds us that this can be a time where the mistake ratios can increase! Thank you for the support of parents and caregivers at home in ensuring that school work is a priority, proper rest and nutrition, appropriate screen time and space to debrief and relax is the focus as we all work towards the well-earned September break.

Community Prayers

Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us.

God bless.
